For added adventure you can also extend your day and visit Trout Tarn (Beacon Tarn) and Octopus Lagoon (Allan Tarn). Talk to us for a customised Swallows and Amazons Day.
You will probably land at "The Secret Harbour" and disembark to explore the island and see where John, Susan, Titty and The Boy Roger set up their tents and played pirates.
If the weather is clear you will enjoy beautiful views towards the north end of the lake. You can take your boat around the island, or if you are feeling brave, do the rock jump into the lake. There's even buried treasure to be found in the shape of a Geo Cache. Find the Cache and leave a message for others who follow.
Having explored the island, jumped from the jump, and left no stone unturned looking for treasure, you will make the return trip to the shore. With photos to remind you this is a trip you will remember.
Made famous by Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons, Peel Island lies towards the southern end of Coniston Water. In the book it is known as “Wild Cat Island”. With it's Secret Harbour and accessibility by kayak or canoe, it makes for the perfect adventure for Swallows and Amazon fans of all ages. Let Joint Adventures take you on your own Swallows and Amazons Adventure by Kayak or Canoe.
Gather your boats. You may choose kayak..
