Duke of Edinburgh’s  Award

The Lake district is the perfect place for DofE expeditions.  As a location the Lake District has much to offer.  There are a variety of journeys possible within The Lakes.  Close by the fells and rivers of Yorkshire Dales and Southern Scotland add to the variety of options for your DofE expedition.  These locations provide a range of places which enable groups to complete both training and qualifying expeditions as they progress through each award level.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition is demanding of students and teachers or youth leaders.  Our aim is to inspire a generation to appreciate the value of the environment and to develop skills, self confidence and a sense of collective responsibility. We do this through our work as outdoor leaders and trainers.  We have leaders on hand to help guide the young people through the expedition training and assessment for bronze, silver and gold awards.  We want each group member to feel that they really have achieved the level of knowledge, skill, and personal development required to enable all individuals to group together to become a successful unaccompanied team on expedition.

What we provide.

All of our standard packages include:

• Free use of group kit: tents, stoves, maps, compasses, first aid kits, group shelters.
• Completion  of local authority paperwork, provision of letters to parents where required.
• Pre expedition training pack with training notes and helpful resources.
• Camp site fees.
• Training and assessment provided by qualified and experienced leaders.

In addition for canoeing expeditions we provide all technical and safety equipment and dry storage.

For school groups and other youth organisations we offer support packages or full expedition management for bronze, silver and gold expeditions.

Our DofE programmes offer great value and are flexible and will help both teachers and students become independent and more able to cope with the demands DofE puts upon them.  Our aim is to ensure that each member of the group meets the 20 expedition requirements appropriate to the award level at which they are working.
