At Joint adventures we recycle all things where ever possible.  When our climbing ropes are no longer suitable for climbing, we use them for tying kayaks and canoes onto trailers or in raft building.  All our boats are made of recyclable material as much as possible, and of course we look after our equipment so that it stays serviceable for longer.  We have taken steps to make our building as energy efficient as possible.  When time and the weather permit we dry everything outdoors, and avoid putting on extra heating to facilitate drying.

Foot paths can become badly eroded by the constant trampling of feet.  Worse still is the habit of walking to the edge of an existing path when trying to find an easier route.  This simply makes the eroded section wider.  If you must walk on the edge, then walk well away from the track,  so that at least you are much less likely to be followed by the next person.

Joint Adventures aims to carry out it's business with minimal impact on the environment.  In taking people outdoors we hope not only to give them fun, adventure, and excitement, but also provide them with an understanding of the importance of conservation, and caring for the environment which they have come to enjoy.

As well as having the technical skills and knowledge needed to instruct outdoor activities such as climbing, hill walking, kayaking and canoeing, our instructors have knowledge of local traditions, culture, and natural history.  Through sharing this knowledge with our clients we hope to inspire people to take an active role in looking after the planet.

Adventure Activities in The Lake District

        Environmental sustainability

The great natural beauty of The Lake District is one of the main attractions for working, living and playing in this wonderful part of the country.  We must not forget that unless we actively conserve and manage this region we will end up loving it to death.
