Joint Adventures Adventure
activities in The Lake District
All activities
All Summer
activities are more comfortable with a full arm and leg covering of warm
cloths. Fleece type material, or a wool mixture is a good choice. Try to
save your cotton T shirts and sweat shirts for travelling home in.
Jeans are NOT
recommended for any activity, apart from travelling home in.
Preferably two long sleeved layers, and one long legged layer, with your
lightweight waterproof jacket over the top. If you have waterproof trousers
bring them. Bring gloves, warm hat and additional warm clothing if weather
not the best
Family Adventure Day
Three activities may need four sets of clothing, especially if Gorge and Kayak are included.Abseilers, and Rock Climbers.
If you've got walking boots use them, otherwise footwear with a treaded sole is best. And wear plenty of warm layers as the sites are often exposed.Walk backwards over the edge of a steep drop with only a couple of ropes and your composure to keep you safe! If this idea doesn't put you off then read on. Joint Adventures instructors will see that you will get to the bottom safe and sound. Abseiling is a technique used by climbers to return to the bottom of a climb quickly (but not too quickly) and we will show you all you need to know to enjoy this exhilarating challenge. Let us help you organise your sponsored abseil event.
Moving on to white water
This 2 day course is for those who have good boat control on flat water, and wish to develop skills to paddle moving water up to grade 2. The first part of the course will review flat water skills. The rest of the course will involve skill development to include breaking in and out of moving water, surfing small waves, and river reading skills.
White water skills
This 2 day course is designed to get people paddling up to and including grade 3 rivers, with good control and boat handling skills. It is suitable for people who have some moving water experience but want to be able to reliably catch more eddies as they descend the rapids.
Advanced white water skills
This 2 day course is designed to move people on to the next level of paddling. It will focus on you learning how to paddle grade 3 water with finesse and develop skills needed to paddle grade 4 water.
Beginner to improver
This is a 2 day course for those who have little or know experience of boating, and wish to develop skills specific to canoe or kayak. Our aim is to help you develop skills to enable you to undertake short journeys on flat water, and be in good control of your boat. We will also teach you how to be safer on the water so that you may begin to plan your own adventures.
