Activities
These are tailored to suit the nature of the students. We structure adventure activities to ensure that students find themselves in situations which stretch them in some way. Leaders act to facilitate development of the skills above, and students are encouraged to reflect on the events which they have been part of.
Joint Adventures Adventure activities in The Lake District
Schools Page
Welcome to Joint Adventures Schools Page. Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for you to chose the right mix of activities to give your students and staff an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
Residential accommodation
Typically staff and students will be based at YHA hostels. These provide excellent accommodation and are geared up for the activities which the students and staff will take part in. Hostels which are conveniently situated to minimise travelling are:
Holly Howe Coniston
Ambleside YHA
Derwent Water
We also use self catering bunk house accommodation based in Coniston village.
We will organise the booking of accommodation for you so that you only have to deal with one person.
Safety management
Joint Adventures is licensed by The Adventurous Activities Licensing Service, (license no. L6889/R1608). Licence details may be verified by calling 029 2075 5715. We are also a member of Cumbria Tourist Board's ROAM scheme. As members of both these organisations we have been inspected and found to meet the required standards in all aspects of running adventurous activities. Copies of all paperwork relating to risk assessments and the above licences are available on request. Click here to view our Risk Management Summary.
Organising a visit
We will provide pre course briefing information for students and parents, and will liaise with organising staff prior to the visit to answer any questions they may have. We will endeavour to be as flexible as possible in meeting individual requirements.
Please talk to us about organising your visit.

Activities on offer are:
A chance to develop
We are certain that the students will have a wonderful time doing the activities, but we feel that it is essential to promote:
personal development and self awareness leading to growth of self esteem
social skills and social awareness leading to respect and tolerance of others
a knowledge and understanding of the environment
an ability to reflect upon the things and people around us.
In achieving this students and teachers will be involved in some or all of the following:
decision making
using and evaluating communication skills
working as a team member
taking on a leadership role
time management
conflict resolution
self evaluation.

Experience
Joint Adventures has staff experienced in organising adventure activities for schools and colleges. Unlike some LEA centres, we do not use trainee instructors with any of our school groups. You can chose from a residential experience of 2 to 5 days or non residential based adventure days.
